Water Resources Engineering Team Leader

We have an exciting opportunity for a Water Resources Engineering Team Leader to join our Malvern office. This senior role provides local leadership to our Melbourne-based water resources engineers, driving technical excellence, client satisfaction, and team growth.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager – Water Resources Engineering (VIC/NSW), you will:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to Melbourne-based engineers.
  • Oversee day-to-day team operations, including workload coordination, work allocation, and deadline management.
  • Liaise with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Supervise, review, and approve technical work to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Scope projects, prepare fee proposals, and manage project budgets.
  • Assist with financial duties including invoicing, variations, and reporting.
  • Represent BW at meetings, presentations, and public forums.
  • Contribute to the continued growth of the Water Resources division.

About You

You will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Chartered/Registered in Victoria preferred).
  • 7+ years’ experience in water resources or civil stormwater engineering, including leadership or senior-level responsibilities.
  • Strong technical skills in hydrology, drainage design, and modelling (ARR2019, Melbourne Water Standards).
  • Proven project management skills — delivering on time, on budget, and to client satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Financial acumen in budget management, fee proposals, and invoicing.
  • Experience liaising with Melbourne Water, councils, or other authorities (highly regarded).
