Construction Engineer

Beveridge Williams are seeking an experienced Construction Engineer to join our team, this role could be based at any one of our Gippsland offices, Sale, Traralgon or Warrigal. It is expected that the successful applicant will have will have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant local Australian experience, knowledge of the land development process is advantageous along with strong communication skills and adaptive to advances in technology.  This is an interesting position providing you with the opportunity to work on a range land development projects.

The Construction Engineer will be involved in civil works for land development and infrastructure projects, entailing technical specifications, site audits, contract administration and detailed planning, and will provide high level technical and strategic engineering advice.

The key responsibilities of the role will include but not limited to:

Contract Documents

  • Review plans for constructability
  • Review Site Constraints – EMP, CMP, CHMP and flora and fauna
  • Conduct check of schedules against the plans
  • Prepare contract documents for review by Project Managers

Construction

  • Prepare a risk assessment of the construction program to determine intensity of visits
  • Assist Project Manager with pre-commencement meeting
  • Meet with the contractor(s) on site visit to review quality and compliance
  • Review the OH&S on site as a duty of care
  • Liaise with the contractor to resolve any construction issues
  • Monitor performance and vary intensity of visits as required
  • Issue improvement notices to the Project Manager
  • Give direction to the contractor where required

Contract Management

  • Assess claims and provide the Project Manager with list of approved works in a Draft Certificate
  • Prepare payment certificates for signoff by the Superintendent
  • Assess any extension or variation to the contract and report to the Project Manager

Auditing

  • Prepare audit plans for the contractor
  • Conduct site and office audits of the contractor
  • Report to the QA officer, Project Manager and Manager of results
