Engineering Team Leader

We have a great opportunity for an Engineering Team Leader or an experienced Senior Design Engineer with demonstrated experience in the land development sector ready to take the next step in their career. This opportunity based at our head office in Malvern will join a passionate, supportive and collaborative team culture at one of Australia’s leading land development consultancies.

 As an Engineering Team Leader you duties will include:

  • Provide high level engineering advice on projects at pre-planning phase
  • Assist with the preparation of due diligence assessments and DCEs on upcoming projects,
  • including provision of engineering advice to Project Managers and/or directly to clients
  • Lead and coordinate engineering input into the planning phase, including:-
    • Preparation &/or review of infrastructure servicing strategies
    • Review of stormwater management strategies
    • Reviewing urban designs and providing engineering advice on staging, layout & road network
  • Provide technical advice, mentoring and assistance to Senior Engineers
  • Contribute to the review of the level of competence within the team and identify where additional training may be required for the team, or specific individuals.
  • Ensure final documentation is in accordance with company standards, and authority requirements.
  • In liaison with the Project Manager, ensure the project outcomes and final documentation meets the client brief.
  • Liaison with clients, authorities, and stakeholders as required to resolve project related issues.
  • Shape the master planning and detailed design of land development and infrastructure projects.
  • Lead and coordinate a team of engineers, designers and drafts people.
  • Produce and review technical documentation including models, calculations, drawings and reports.
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders, including clients, councils and service authorities in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of specialist consultants, including construction engineers and project managers to get the best outcomes for all stakeholders.
  • Help instil a culture of technical excellence and contribute to ongoing systematic improvement.
  • Mentor, guide and support junior staff.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering.
  • Engineering registration DAS accreditation.
  • 7+ years relevant industry experience, preferably within a land development / engineering design consultancy environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of local design standards and water authority codes.
  • A commitment to technical excellence and quality.
  • Comprehensive 12d design skills and a working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Practical knowledge in areas such as project management and construction are highly desirable.
  • The ability to multitask, prioritise work and meet established deadlines.
  • Lateral thinking skills to tackle and overcome complex engineering problems.
  • High level communication and mentoring skills.
  • The vision to plan new communities, and the ability to lead a team to bring your vision into reality.
