Nestled in the heart of Ballarat and providing Melbourne commuters a safe place to park their vehicles, Beveridge Williams are assisting developer Pellicano Group with the civil engineering design and engineering survey to transform the Ballarat Station Precinct into a vibrant community, transport and commercial hub.

Working in conjunction with Project Architects, Structural Engineers, Landscape Designers and others, Beveridge Williams’ local Engineers provided design of the access road connecting Nolan Street to Lydiard Street including pedestrian linkages. Our multi-disciplinary consultancy team were able to further assist the precinct redevelopment and protection of the Yarrowee River by undertaking drainage detention and treatment system design, while Traffic and Transport Engineering services provided design of the future Nolan Street signalised intersection and confirming bus and vehicle turning movements.

The internal access road incorporated and extended its design to the proposed public plaza – south of the Goods Shed, drainage across the 405 space multi-deck commuter car park, Public Transport for Victoria’s bus interchange and the Quest Hotel and Goods Shed car park providing a further 150 car spaces.

Guided by concept designs, Beveridge Williams Engineers provided solutions to limitations and constraints that were present across the historic site. Not just confined to the revered architecture of the existing Goods Shed and Ballarat Station buildings, challenges we overcame included existing assets, Yarrowee River culverts, drainage detention, historic mining activity, soil conditions and protected trees.
