Cooling Darwin Project – CLOUSTON Associates

Our CLOUSTON Associates teams in Darwin and Sydney were rewarded for their ingenuity, skill and dedication to the cause at the 2022 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) National Awards on Friday 14 October.

The Darwin CLOUSTON team was recently awarded the 2022 AILA Northern Territory Landscape Architecture Award for Urban Design for their work on the Cooling Darwin Strategy – a series of projects across Darwin’s CBD.

The team’s innovative approach to urban heat in this unique part of Australia has seen them now receive the 2022 National Award in this category, reinforcing their skills in heat mitigation and sustainability. The judging panel emphasised that they are keen to see how this design approach might expand over time and would like to see further research and longer-term explorations in this area.
